The quality of NHS bespoke orthopaedic footwear has declined hugely over the last 10 years and it is often impossible to obtain correctly fitting orthopaedic shoes on the NHS, despite the fact that all patients with a clinical need for orthopaedic shoes have the right to have them made.
James Taylor & Son is now offering an Expert Footwear Assessment that will review a patient’s need for bespoke orthopaedic shoes and assess the footwear provided by the NHS. If the footwear is inadequate our Report can be given to the patient’s GP and used to ensure a replacement pair is made immediately or to help with an Independent Funding Request to obtain privately made bespoke footwear.
James Taylor & Son is supportive of the NHS but believes the quality of footwear delivered by their contractors is often very poor. We hope that this service will help ensure NHS patients get the footwear that they need.
